1.e4 c5 2.f4 e5 anyone knows this variation of king's indian?

not a very popular opening… I found less than 40 games in my database with this position. my software calls it C30
King's Gambit Declined, Mafia Defense. The move sequence is normally 1.e4 e5 2.f4 c5,
with black's second move's Sicilian flavor inspiring the name. Capish?

Why would anyone want to reply 2...e5 to 1.e4 c5 2.f4? Or what comes to the same thing, decline the King's Gambit with 2...c5?

White gains a super position with little or no effort.

Interesting! 1. e4 c5 2. f4 would normally be classified as a Sicilian Defence, Grand Prix opening, as used with some success by a group of British Masters on the English Grand Prix circuit. Hence the name. The usual responses are 2. ...d3 or 2. ...d4. 2. ... e5 on the other hand changes the whole feel of the game - I can see the need for a bit more analysis! My initial impression is that it can only be good for White, though.
