♡ 36 ( +1 | -1 ) chessbase databaseDoes anyone here have a particular database with chessbase? What is the difference between mega database and big database? I'm considering getting big database 2003 for $35 (australian dollars), and then just getting some games from twic (the week in chess), to update. Does this make sense or am I missing something?

♡ 26 ( +1 | -1 ) Themain difference in the above mention two bases, are that in Mega Database, many of the games, are annotated by the players, with very interesting analyses.

♡ 31 ( +1 | -1 ) thanks cairook yes I think there is some 57 000 games annotated, but that is a small percentage of 2.9 million. I think I'll get the big database then, but If I were to get 2003 edition, what kind of engine would it come with fritz 5.32? If so I already own fritz 8 seperately, can I transfer the engine to big database 2003, and use fritz 8 with it?

♡ 30 ( +1 | -1 ) Hmm"ok yes I think there is some 57 000 games annotated, but that is a small percentage of 2.9 million."
But even if 57000 is a small percentage of 2.9 million, surely 57000 annotated games give you lots of material for a long time? I mean let's say you study 10 annotated games per day - 57000/10=5700 days...

♡ 31 ( +1 | -1 ) Indeed!Bigger isn't always better. I'd much rather have 100 games with detailed analysis than 10,000 games with NO analysis because I'd learn much better from the write-up than just trying to read the minds of the players' games who have no analysis.
